Moat House Community Trust is a registered charity with the residents of your neighbourhood at its heart. Our aim is to support the creation and sustainability of a prosperous and proud community where all residents are proud to say they live and work. Who are we?

Over half our Trustees live in the area, and the rest have a vested interest in the prosperity of the neighbourhood through their work. Half our current staff have been recruited from the area too. We really are of, and for, your neighbourhood.

What do we do?

There are three key aspects to our work: delivering services; work with residents and influencing services. More information on these are set out below.

What services do we deliver?

We have set up two social enterprises: Purple Patch Communications and Moat House Cafe. Social enterprises are a type of business that deliver services, but have a strong social ethic underpinning them. Profits and surpluses are reinvested back into the local community – and in our case into the Moat House Community Trust charity.

Purple Patch Communications offers design, communications and web-based services to a range of clients in the public, private and voluntary sectors, including graphic and web design, new media and e-communications, marketing and communications strategies, event management and public relations.

Moat House Cafe is based at the Moat House Leisure and Neighbourhood Centre on Winston Avenue. It offers daily 'hot specials' and a range of pre-packed foods for take-away customers. It also offers healthy, affordable food for the local community, as well as catering services to local businesses and events.

In addition we have recently acquired a facility on Alderman's Green Industrial Estate. We are in the process of converting this into a Business Centre which will create more jobs and opportunities for you and your neighbours. To find out more please contact either Eleanor House (Coventry New Deal for Communities) or contact Sheila Sturgeon (Moat House Community Trust) on 02476 622964.

How do we work with residents?

Our board has a resident majority stake. We are increasing our working relationships with resident groups and with the One Voice Forum.

How do we influence services?

We plan to influence services through neighbourhood agreement meetings with key service providers – providing accountability of service providers.

We work in partnership with a range of agencies in the neighbourhood, helping to make sure services are of a high standard and are what you need. And our social enterprises – Moat House Cafe and Purple Patch Communications – create jobs and training opportunities for local people.

How can I get involved?

We welcome input and involvement from local residents. To find out more please call Sheila Sturgeon on 024 76 622 964, or email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . We are based at the Moat House Leisure and Neighbourhood Centre.

What is the Neighbourhood Network?

The Neighbourhood Network attempts to improve services in your area by involving key local practitioners or stakeholders and increasing the opportunity for networking and partnership work. The Network aims to continue to change and improve the WEHM area, by sharing information and best practice. By working together, it is hoped that services can be more effective, as practitioners develop their understanding of key local issues and ensuring familiary with eachother's roles and objectives.

The Neighbourhood Network was launched on the 10th November 2010 at the Moat House Leisure and Neighbourhood Centre. You can find slides about the event by following the links: Neighbourhood_Network.ppt
